Since its establishment in 1992, the Hong Kong College of Cardiology has been committed to advancing the highest standards of cardiovascular care through scientific, professional, and educational initiatives, while also promoting awareness of heart health in the community. As a leading cardiology institution with international recognition, we place great emphasis on fostering collaboration with cardiac organizations worldwide, with a particular focus on strengthening ties with our counterparts in Mainland China.
Each year, the College organizes a wide range of scientific and public health programs. Our Annual Scientific Congress, the flagship academic event of the College, continues to evolve with new initiatives and has received highly positive feedback from international faculty, fellows, and members alike. We are also proud to conduct structured educational programs such as the Hong Kong Core Cardiology Certificate Course, the 3 Year Interventional Fellows Course, and the Hong Kong Complex Cardiovascular Intervention Course, which serve trainees through to senior fellows in enhancing their knowledge and professional standards. In addition, our fellows and members actively participate in the South China International Congress of Cardiology and the Cardiovascular International Summit Hong Kong, held annually in Guangzhou and Shenzhen, further strengthening scientific exchange between Hong Kong and Mainland China.
In parallel, the College remains deeply engaged in community outreach. Our annual highlight, the World Heart Day Carnival cum Run for Heart, attracts over 3,000 participants each year. This meaningful event not only promotes heart health through active participation but also raises public awareness of the lifesaving role of Automated External Defibrillators. Our long running Jump Rope for Heart program continues to encourage schoolchildren to embrace heart healthy lifestyles through rope skipping.
Furthermore, in collaboration with the Department of Health, the College supports the Joyful Fruit & Veg Month campaign to reinforce the importance of a heart healthy diet.
These diverse and impactful initiatives would not be possible without the dedication of our members, the support of our friends, and the contributions of distinguished practitioners and academics both locally and abroad. I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering commitment and support, which enables the College to continue moving forward in fulfilling its mission.
With warm regards,
Dr. TSUI Kin Lam
